Victorian Toy Theatre
Performance of Oliver Twist
(12th
August 2006 – Dickens Museum, London)
An enlarged Britannia by John Redington,
beautifully recreated by Horatio Blood, with a cast of hundreds waiting in the
wings.
This was a rare opportunity to see a traditional toy theatre show of Oliver Twist, originally published by John Redington circa 1860.
There was a brief introduction describing the links between Charles Dickens and the toy theatre.
The play was performed with gusto by Barry Clarke.
